Role Scope

 

The Senior Director – Commercial Finance leads the financial performance, partnering with senior leadership to drive strategy, ensure financial discipline, and provide insight-driven support on key commercial and operational decisions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and lead the BU finance strategy, ensuring alignment with Corporate Finance policies, controls, and overall business objectives.
  • Own the full operational finance agenda, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control (OPEX/CAPEX), and performance management.
  • Oversee monthly financial closing, reporting, and variance analysis, delivering accurate and insight-driven management reports.
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes, ensuring disciplined execution against approved financial plans.
  • Support business growth by building financial models for new initiatives, pricing scenarios, and operational improvements.
  • Provide financial leadership for tenders and commercial proposals, including pricing strategy, cost analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and business cases, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and value creation objectives.
  • Drive CAPEX planning, governance, and post-investment performance tracking.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and adherence to Corporate Finance frameworks and audit requirements.
  • Partner with Legal, Procurement, and Operations on contracts and commercial terms to ensure financially sound outcomes.
  • Strengthen cash flow management and working capital discipline across the BU.
  • Provide strategic financial insights on key decisions such as partnerships, restructuring, and major business initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the BU Finance team, fostering a high-performance and accountability-driven culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and business partnering capabilities.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field; MBA or Master’s preferred.
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in finance, with at least 8 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Strong experience in FP&A, commercial finance, budgeting, and performance management.
  • Proven track record of partnering with senior leadership (CFO/CEO) and leading finance teams.

 

Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Strong expertise in financial planning, modeling, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial finance, pricing strategies, and cost optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, financial tools, and advanced Excel/BI reporting.
