Role Purpose:

 

The incumbent is responsible to operate heavy or light vehicles used in waste collection and public cleansing operations in a safe and effective manner as per organization standards.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Drive the vehicles according to the standard procedures recommended
  • Undertake all the tasks in accordance with the Company’s Quality & Environmental management system and Health & Safety Procedures
  • Perform daily equipment inspection and complete Pre-trip & Post-trip Checklist.
  • Report maintenance and repair requirement of cleansing vehicles.
  • Follow operation route as per instruction provided by supervisors.
  • Maintain vehicles general cleanliness and perform proper housekeeping.
  • Follow traffic rules and standards in vehicle merging and maneuvering.
  • Establish clear communication between labors and other drivers or operators for smooth operation.
  • Wear approved company uniform and proper PPE whilst at work.
  • Follow supervisor instruction & work only on areas specifically assigned to them.
  • Assist in the training of other drivers

  • Adhere to the company’s HSE policy and work collaboratively to achieve the set objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and safeguard their own safety and health, as well as that of anyone who may be affected by their actions or omissions at work.
  • Refrain from being under the influence of any intoxicating substances to the point where they pose a risk to themselves or others while on the job.
  • Cooperate with their employer concerning safety, health, and welfare in the workplace.
  • Refrain from engaging in any improper behaviour that could jeopardize their own or anyone else's safety or health.
  • Participate in safety and health training provided by their employer.
  • Make appropriate use of all machinery, tools, substances, etc., as well as any Personal Protective Equipment supplied for use at work.
  • Report any flaws in the workplace, equipment, etc., that could pose a safety or health risk.

 

Qualification and Experience

 

  • Secondary education certificate - which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
  • Heavy or light duty driving license depending on the category of the vehicle
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience 

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Knowledge of the local road and traffic laws
